Welcome to the Penn State Harrisburg Information Technology wiki!

This site will help you get the most out of our technology. Look around, follow our links and ask questions.

Step 1:    Do I need some sort of account to access things like Penn State e-mail?

Yes indeed, here is where you start.

Step 2:    Is my computer ready for College?

The University has recommendations - take their advice.

Before you buy elsewhere, double check our list of reduced-price student or no cost licensed software from Penn State's software and downloads sites.

Step 3:    What is this thing called ANGEL?

There are some things you need to do with the ANGEL system before the semester begins. ANGEL has its own email system.  You need to tell ANGEL to use your Penn State email address. Get those instructions.  We also have a student guide for ANGEL.

If you want to access your ANGEL account click on the image below.

Step 4:    Does my system practice safe computing?

Protect Yourself, Protect Your Computer, Take Control

Step 5:    I have wireless - how do I use it?

Step by step instructions can be found here.

Step 6:    Who can help me if I have questions?

Go to our resources dedicated to Student IT needs.  If you have specific questions relating to connecting to the internet from the Residence Halls, check out RESCOM.  The site is full of useful information on how to register your computer, making sure your computer is configured properly, and the rules about bandwidth use. The site is maintained by University Park but the information pertains to Penn State Harrisburg as well.  Please also consider visiting our Student Helpdesk which is located in the Lower Level of the Olmsted Building.

Step 7:    What about local resources if I have issues?

We have a helpdesk that is located in the lower level of the Olmsted Building.  Stop by and ask your question or give them a ring at 717.948.6412.  They can help you with issues relating to connectivity (both wired and wireless), mobile devices and viruses prevention software as well as common applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PPT) you use in the classroom.

If you are a tech savvy student you may want to consider joining our team.  If that is the case then send us some reasons why you think you could be a contributing member of our student helpdesk team.
